About the Artist

Anna Perdue is a painter living in Richmond, VA, currently pursuing her BFA in Painting and Printmaking at VCUarts.
Although Anna's medium of choice is oil paint, she also creates art with colored pencils and graphite. Her interest in naturalistic illustrations (botanical and entomological) and psychedelic surrealist imagery are what shape her current painting style. Additionally, her passion for environmentalism also inspires her use of nature as a subject matter.
"The deep, inherent connection humans have to nature is the core of my belief system and the primary inspiration for my art. My work explores this connection by combining naturalistic painting techniques with psychedelic visuals and themes. My interest in scientific illustration has been crucial to my current artistic style and preference in subject matter. Additionally, the development of my spirituality—and how much it intertwines with nature- has facilitated my exploration of more surrealist stylization. With each painting I make, I aim to capture how powerful and beautiful the relationship between humans and nature is; I hope that in doing so, others will foster their own affinity for nature!"
